When did you first become interested in Martial Arts training?
I had always been interested in martial arts from a young age. It must have been superheroes like Batman that first sparked my interest.
Why did you decide to enroll at Dragon Gym?
I was going away to college and felt that, for my own safety, it would be a good idea to know how to protect myself.
How did you get involved with teaching and becoming an instructor?
Through training and building friendships with instructors over the span of about 11 years.
You're also a certified Martial Arts Instructor. How did you train for that achievement?
I have competition experience in several martial arts disciplines, including:
-
Kickboxing
-
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
-
Judo
I've also helped others prepare for competitions.
Tell me a little more about your training regimen, including cross-training.
I train Jiu Jitsu and kickboxing every week, sometimes training up to three times a day, at least four days per week.
-
Training frequency: Approximately 8 training sessions per week
-
Primary disciplines: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and kickboxing

Additional responsibilities: Teaching group classes and hosting private lessons
What would your advice be for someone considering Martial Arts training?
If you want to get the most out of martial arts, make it a lifestyle. Dedicate yourself as much as you're willing, and you will see results guaranteed.
What about someone with ambitions of becoming a Martial Arts instructor?
It's a big decision, but it can be very rewarding. Instructors are necessary for the longevity of martial arts.
Make sure you know the people you're working with, and be prepared to make sacrifices. Things change once other people's training becomes your responsibility.
