Dear Parent,

Have you thought about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) as an athletic activity for your child?  Sometimes, we don't think about BJJ as an extra-curricular activity for kids; but, it's one of the best.

Here are 12 ways that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is great for kids.

1. Self-Defense

BJJ teaches them the physical techniques to defend themselves.  More importantly, it also teaches them how to think about self-defense.  The learn to anticipate and avoid potential dangers.

2. Self-Confidence

Children derive self-confidence from their abilities and competencies. As a result, when children become more proficient in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, their confidence starts to sky-rocket.

3. Belts and Ranking

Our Martial Arts belt ranking system is a structured way for students to learn how to set goals and achieve them.   The discover how to break down a goal into smaller parts, set priorities and persevere until the end.

4. Discipline

BJJ teaches children to respect themselves and others.  They will be working with partners and opponents frequently.  That means they learn how to play and compete fairly and with integrity.  They also discover the importance of commitment.  They go to BJJ practice even when they don't feel like it.  These are lessons that stick with them for the rest of their lives.

5.  Individual Achievement: *** No one sits on the Bench ***

Jiu Jitsu training has a unique combination that is not found in many other sports.  Practice required students to work together AND the martial art focuses on individual development.  Through disciplined and diligent training your child's full potential will be developed.

6. Gender Equality
