1. Mountain Pose (Tadasana): Arguably the most basic but powerful posture, this pose builds a strong foundation. Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart, arms resting by your side, palms facing forward. It's the starting point of many sequences and helps in aligning the body correctly.
2. Downward Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana): An iconic yoga pose, it stretches the entire body. Begin on your hands and knees and lift your hips upwards, pushing through your palms, forming an inverted ‘V’. It's an excellent pose for getting started with yoga.
3. Child's Pose (Balasana): A restorative pose, it's often used as a resting position in between more challenging poses. Sit on your heels, stretch your arms in front, and bow down with your forehead touching the ground. It's a perfect pose to return to if you ever feel overwhelmed during a session.
4. Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana): Lying face-down, place your hands under your shoulders and push up, arching your back. This pose strengthens the spine and opens the chest, helping you to build core strength.
5. Tree Pose (Vrksasana): A balancing pose, it helps in building focus and concentration. Stand tall and place one foot on the inside of the opposite thigh, hands in a prayer position. Perfect for those new to Exton Yoga, seeking to find their balance in both practice and life.
6. Warrior I (Virabhadrasana I): A powerful standing pose, it strengthens legs and boosts stamina. Step one foot back, turning it outwards at a 45-degree angle. The front knee is bent, and arms stretch up overhead, palms facing each other. It's a great pose to feel empowered and grounded.
