As the Head Instructor here at Dragon Gym Main Line in Berwyn, I get to watch something pretty special happen every weekday afternoon: TE Middle School students walk through our doors—sometimes with backpacks bigger than they are—and transform their after-school hours into something meaningful.
Parents ask me all the time, “Is there a place where my child can go after school that’s safe, structured, close by, and actually benefits them?”
Yes. That’s exactly why we built our After School Martial Arts Program for TE Middle School students.
This program is designed to support families, help students thrive, and make the after-school scramble a whole lot easier.

Safe, Easy, and Right Across the Street from TE Middle School
For families in Berwyn, Devon, Paoli, Wayne, and the greater Main Line, convenience matters—especially at 3 PM when school lets out.
One of the biggest advantages of our program is that students walk directly from TE Middle School to Dragon Gym Main Line.
No buses.
No extra driving.
No complicated logistics.
Our instructors greet them when they arrive and make sure every student gets settled safely.
A Balanced Routine: Snack Time, Homework Time, and Training Time
We know middle schoolers are juggling a lot—schoolwork, sports, clubs, and growing social lives. That’s why our program is structured into three purposeful blocks:
1. Snack & Reset Time
Students arrive, decompress, and have a snack. This intentional pause helps them transition out of “school mode” and into an environment where they can focus, move, and recharge.
2. Supervised Homework Time
Before martial arts begins, students sit down for dedicated homework time.
No screens.
No chaos.
Just structured support and space to get their work done so evenings at home can be calmer and less rushed.
3. Martial Arts Class from 3:45–4:30 PM
This is where the real transformation happens.
Under the guidance of our coaching team, students train in a mix of:
- Taekwondo
- Muay Thai
- Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fundamentals
- Strength and conditioning appropriate for their age
The goal is NOT to create fighters—it’s to help kids develop:
- Confidence
- Discipline
- Focus
- Respect
- Physical fitness
- Leadership skills
These are traits that carry over into school, sports, and life.
Train Up to 5 Days Per Week for Maximum Flexibility
Families in TE, Berwyn, and the Main Line have busy schedules—we get it.
That’s why students can attend up to five days per week.
Come every day or choose the days that work best.
You’ll never have to scramble for coverage or wonder where your child is.
Daily consistency also makes a difference. Students who train more frequently tend to:
- Improve faster
- Build deeper friendships
- Gain more confidence
- Stay active and engaged after school
Parent-Friendly Pickup Window: 4:30–5:00 PM
After martial arts class ends at 4:30 PM, students have supervised downtime until pickup.
Parents can arrive any time up until 5 PM.
This pickup window is intentionally designed to remove the stress of racing across Berwyn traffic or juggling work calls.
We hear it from parents all the time:
“This program gives us our afternoons back.”
